Moonday Meditation
Next Dates: Find all the dates in our "Upcoming events" section: click here.
The Buddhist calendar follows the moon phases (Buddha was born on a full moon, was enlightened on a full moon, and died on a full moon).
In Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, the lay communities go to the temple on moondays (full moon, new moon and moon quarters) to practice meditation. We keep this tradition and organize evening meditation on the moondays.
Our moonday meditations begin at 7:30 p.m. with the traditional Evening Chanting, which is a form of meditation, where everyone can participate or listen. Then meditation from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (but you can go back home whenever you wish…): we alternate sitting meditation, silent or with instructions, and other postures (standing, walking, or even lying down). You don't have to be Buddhist to enjoy this evening. It is free and all are welcome. No need to register.
What to bring: 1) Loose and comfortable clothes 2) Flip flips or slip on shoes 3) mosquito's repellent (optional)
In accordance with the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are free. However, Sacred Falls Meditation Center is a community-based non-profit organization supported by generous monetary donations. All financial contributions are welcome and will contribute to the development of the Center and to make these teachings available to all.
